I too have had fire wire problems with my NV-GS50B and I am now told that the fire wire has burnt out in my camera. It seems that this was a very common problem in Panasonic digital video cameras and I'm told by a service centre that Panasonic had to issue new instructions on line about connecting cameras to PC's because of countless complaints. Are you sure your fire wire port on your camera is working.
