Has anyone used Paint.net? It looks like a true freeware program from
the description, but I haven't downloaded or tried it yet. I wanted to
see if anyone else had first.

I am looking for some freeware graphics programs:
-a program that has all or most of the functions of Photoshop.
-a program that can do what Bryce does
-any other good programs you can recommend

I don't think anything will dupe PS and Bryce, but DrawPlus is one,
and Twisted Brush is more painterly that PS or PSP.

Shareware:

Price: $39.95 - $129.95

Greg, this group is supposed to be for the discussion of freeware.
Please try to stay on topic.

As for Grumpy Old Wizard's request, no program is going to exactly
duplicate the features of Photoshop or Bryce. However, the closest thing
to Photoshop in freeware is The Gimp:

http://www.gimp.org/

And as for a freeware like Bryce (3D landscaping and animation) Blender
does 3D animation graphics:

or look at Now3D:

http://digilander.libero.it/giulios/Eng/Index.htm

or Persistence of Vision:

http://www.povray.org/

As for landscape generation, that's probably not going to be easy to
find. However, I did find this one:

http://www.iluac.com/aeliom/

but bear in mind that I didn't find it through a reputable freeware website.

I advise against bothering with Terregen, because it's limited to the
point where I consider it to be crippleware.

Other freeware graphics programs are listed here:

I don't reply to trolls like Andy Mabbett or Doc (who uses sock
puppets), for instance. No adware, cdware, commercial software,
crippleware, demoware, nagware, PROmotionware, shareware, spyware,
time-limited software, trialware, viruses or warez for me, please.
