Anyone installed this on there machine? I did and the first time I ran
it got an unhandled error. Click OK, program opens but nothing works
(drawing rectangles, circles, colroing things, etc.). Go to uninstall
and it's not in the Add Remove Programs applet. Searched on the web and
find that there are numerous "issues" with this program. I'm running XP
Pro. Anyone having anything similar or any ideas how to uninstall? TIA

Did you use the Software Add/Remove Function in the Control Panel to do
the install?

In XP you might have to Search first...find out where it's located and take it from
there.... because it is possible to install progs on XP and them NOT show up in
the Add/Remove programs section.

That's why you should use the Add/Remove Function in the Control Panel
to Install Programs. Some Installers are not Operating System friendly
and fail to Update the Registry properly.

It works for me, running XP Home SP2.
I see also the uninstall in the Add Remove Programs applet.
Try installing it again over itself. If this doesn't work maybe it's a
corrupted download of the install file: mine is PaintDotNet_2_0.msi 7.71 MB.

HTH,

Jim,35 (
Babya Photo Workshop Professional 7.5-identical, but babya branded)
works for me.

Doesn't run on my Windows 2000 system, useless to me :(

Helen,
If you mean where the program installed, I know it's in program
files...one of my thoughts is to just delete the Paint.NET subfolder
from the program files folder and then use RegScrub to clean up an
registry entris left behind...I know this isn't particularly good
practice but...

Mel,
Good point...one which I shall remember in the future...

Unfortunately, no...
You could try doing a second install using the Add/Remove Function in
the Control Panel and then try to uninstall using the Add/Remove
Function in the Control Panel.

FWIW, I burnt the msi file to a CD and installed it through the Add
Remove Programs applet. The program still doesn't show up in the Add
Remove Programs list but at least now it works OK. Shows some promise
but I think the authors should include a convienent way to uninstall
it...Thanks for your help, everyone.

Write to the Authors, I'm sure they'll be happy to hear from you. Check
back at the web site another version of paint dot net is expected out
shortly.

Mel,
Thanks. I just did that. I'll let everyone know if I hear anything
useful.
