Got a new computer for work and brought home and set up on the network
I have here. Last computer worked fine, and current computer works
fine everywhere but at home. I cannot access all web-pages, ie
cnn.com, or log into ebay. I have contacted comcast, ibm, and office
support for this problem. We have cleared the cache, dumped temporary
files, flushed dns, checked IP config, you name it. Just can't seem to
get this computer working. I am behind a netgear router. Other
computer connected has none of the issues of the new computer. I have
removed the router from the setup for all conversations with Comcast to
avoid, behind router, we don't support that, conversations. Same
results. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have connected to multiple other networks, both wired and wireless
without any of the above problems. It appears to be some issue with
this computer and comcast.

Thanks,

JW

Hi,
Assuming XP SP2...
Turn on the Windows Firewall (from Control Panel or Security Center) and
disable third-party firewalls, security, privacy, ad-blocking programs to
see if one of them is causing this.

Startup in Safe Mode with Networking. If IE can connect and display
webpages, a program that doesn't load in Safe Mode is the culprit.

If using XP SP2...
Log on as an administrator.
From Start> Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type the following, and then hit Enter
netsh Winsock reset

You've powered down the modem for a few minutes at some point right?
(Sometimes helps.)

Hope this helps,
Don
