I want to know what Microsoft recommends as far as a
pagefile size. I understand that it should be at least
1.5 times the amount of RAM - my question is more for the
initial and maximum sizes. I was under the impression
that setting these to be the same would improve
performance by eliminating the fragmentation of the page
file. Can anyone tell me if this is true. Basically I'm
looking for Microsoft best practices here. Thanks

Yes it's true. Set initial and maximum to the same size, and for
best performance put it on a separate physical drive.
