With more memory, Windows XP creates the bigger swap
file - why? Thanks

I too, have wondered why, if you have, say 768mb ram (which i do) does XP
automatically increase the pagefile when you would think, with more ram it
might become smaller., or at least 'level-out' somewhere..
There is a lot of info about the XP pagefile on the Web, but no real
explanation of why it operates this way (considering that you let Windows
manage it rather than setting either a dynamic or fixed pagefile size) What
i do know is that the more memory you install, Windows XP will find a use
for it for certain. beyond that, i am in the dark..

I read that XP, by default multiplies the amount of RAM by 1.5 to determine
the page file size. It makes no sense to me, the more RAM you have, the less
PF you need. Go figure!!
