Page scroll

Hi, I have just had to do a repair install on XP which seemed to go ok.
However, I now get a very odd page scroll using mouse or keyboard. the page
seems to refresh in a wave from top to bottom or vise versa, depending on
which way you go. This happens in all applications and even when I drag
something across the page!
And also, does excessive dick activity mean something? Its goes on and on
eventually to calm down to a rather rythmic chunter after 4 or 5 mins. Then
when you start doing something it leaps into life again slowing down what
you are trying to do!
XP SP2 2.4 Athlon 1 gig memory.
Thanks Oz

Hi,

Three quick suggestions:

Right-click 'My Computer' => Properties => Advanced tab => Performance
section => Settings button: and uncheck everything except the bottom
two.

In Display Properties => Settings tab => Advanced button =>
Troubleshoot tab: knock the Hardware acceleration slider back a notch
or two.

Update the drivers for your graphics card from the manufacturers
website. This freeware will help identify your card and will show a

Normal for a new XP installation. Indexing and Prefetch are busy
gathering data. After a few days, the chatter quiets down.

PS: My reply was in regards to the excessive di(s)k activity.

For the page scrolling problem: Install current display drivers.
