Page numbering

Is there a way to number pages in a continuing page file that eliminates the
preface, table of contents, etc.? In other words I want to start the
numbering from a page that is 5 deep in my project. How can I do that?

Yep - put a next page section break just before the page you want to be
#1. Then insert page numbering on that page and set it to start at #1
(on the header/footer toolbar).
