Page number problems

I have a document that is set in double columns. I have different headers on
odd and even pages, but want the page numbers to run through consequtively.
I've set the first page to start at 9, and this is fine up to page 12. Page
13, however, suddenly becomes 11 and the runs consequtively from that point.
(therefore numbers run 9, 10, 11, 12, 11, 12, 13, 14 etc.) I can't seem to
get Word to get rid of this glitch - any help or suggestions would be much
appreciated.

In your headers/footers toolbar, click on the "Format page Number" icon.
Under the Page numbering section, choose "continue from previous section" -
that will pick up your page numbering and keep it consecutive.
