I am typing a parent letter and I want to have two letters to fit on one 8
1/2 x 11 which means each will be 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 to save paper when copying.
I also want a border around each letter. How do I fit both on one page? Do
I use page setup and change the paper size?

If you have Word 2000 or above, you can do this easily. On the Margins tab
of Page Setup, choose "2 pages per sheet" (portrait). The portrait page will
be subdivided into two logical pages, each of which can have its own page
border, number, etc.
