Page # in header does not refresh

a doc in words 2003 created but when open in word 2007 the page # in the
header is not showing the actual page e.g 1 of 9

But when double click on the header or edit the page the header page
numbering corrects itself and display 1 of 9. if printview it will show 1 of
9. But if just open without editting it will show page 1 of 1. Some sort of
editting is required to get the numbering correct. How do ensure that if
users open the document the header page is automatically show 1 of 9 without
any user required to make any editting or attempt to edit just for the sake
of the page number on the header to refresh to actual 1 of 9

You will get better results in a MS newsgroup
specializing in MSWORD or MS Office. Repost
with version numbers of the two versions of
MSWORD and specify whether they were updated

Somewhere in Tools; Options there is a setting to have it "Update
Fields" at various times. Look for those and set them accordingly. The
Office or Word groups are the best place to ask this for more targeted
responses.
