My IE 6 has a new function that SUCKS.

When I go off line sometimes after a while the page that fully downloaded
and is being displayed goes away and it then shows the page "can't be
displayed" notice. Only happens sometimes and is totally ridicules. I had
two pages downloaded. I read half way thru one, then I went to eat. Now the
one I was reading is gone and after I log back on, I need to find where I
was on the page, the other page did not go away

What the F***

Please help me, before I finally give up and go to linux,
paul

Are you setting IE to work offline or just closing the connection?
Some pages have code to automatically refresh and if IE thinks it's working
online you may get a cannot display message.

I have never used that feature. If I want to see a page, I always go on line
to see the latest, so I do not need the auto updating of favorites. Auto
updating would regularly use my resourses. And just as often, it is a page
that is not in my favorites. So, it used to be so simple, not even anything
to think about. Long page or I need to do something else, ok - Just log off,
leave it open and finish reading it later. Actually, I usually do save it to
desk top in case I lost power, that way I could get it back. But that never
happens, but now I need to use that desktop shortcut to get it back.
Afterwards I delete the shortcut.

Timeout of pages, is this new? Or just new that it displays a failure if I
am not on-line??

Automatically refreshing is not new, nor is the failure notice. They may be
used more now as Web authors see the value.
