Page file on 2nd harddrive

I have a Dell 8100 with Win XP Home SP1. I added a second WD 250GB harddrive
(secondary IDE) and had alot of difficulty getting Windows to recognize it.
It only would see 130GB of the drive. The BIOS sees the 250GB drive.

I partitioned and formatted NTFS on the 130GB and disk manager says the
partition has "page file" under the status column. I cannot delete the
partition. I went to the page file settings of XP and it says there is no
page file set up on that partition.

After some reboots Windows finally recognized the other 110GB of the drive
as unallocated space which I then partioned and formatted NTFS with no
problem. I can access this partition to delete it if I want to.

I would like to delete both partitions and get one full 250GB partition, but
since windows says there is a page file on the 130GB partition it won't let
me delete it.

Any ideas?

Your first problem was you didn't turn on the 48-bit LBA in XP so it would
see the drives full size.

First,re-open advanced in system properties,virtual-memory,select a driv
to,"no-page file",click set 2X,then close-out and restart computer,now i
diskmgmt.msc you can alter the drive as it has no page file in xp to use
to reinstall reverse the cmd in virtual memory, clicking set 2X is critical
Although my hds from wd only go to 80gb,i did see a dwnload from the
for hds over the 120gb that needs to be installed. You might investigate tha
at wd site, although most of thier software doesnt do much if anything for xp
they have a:DLDIAG 11 utility that runs in DOS only thats nice, other than tha
most is worthless.
