"Page cannot be displayed on certain websites"

I get an "page cannot be displayed" message when I try to
go on only certain sites, which I used to go on before
withou any problem. I am running WInXP using IE6.

Try the following and see if something here will help:

Clearing the TIF Cache -

Safely Delete the Temporary Internet Files

Clear out temporary files and delete cookies.

Can't Display Page

In Internet Explorer -
1. Tools > Internet Options > Advanced
2. Scroll down to the Security Settings.
3. Make sure that the two boxes are checked that say
"Enable SSL 2" or "Enable SSL 3".
Try your secure sites.

Another thing you can try is:
Go to start/run
Type in: regsvr32 softpub.dll
Press Enter or click OK

Check C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc for a file named HOSTS with no
extension. (Not Hosts.sam)
Make sure Windows is set to show hidden files and folders and is NOT set to
hide extensions for known file types.
If HOSTS exists, rename it to HOSTS.OLD
Reboot an try again.

Or, In a Cmd window, enter
ipconfig /flushdns
then clear your TIF also, and re-boot.

I have that problem, too. Can't get to secure sites when on dial-up
connection. I use Norton. Have either of you resolved your issue?
I've taken it in numerous times to the premier service in my area and
they can't seem to fix it.

did you resolve "page cannot be displayed" error message.

i have the same problem as you that i could not go to certain web sites
which i used to go on before without any problem.

I have had this same problem. I have tried everything in this thread and
still cant get to certain sites like cnn.com I have XPSP2 and IE6. Some of
the sites I can access dont allow me to drill down or click various links on
them like ebay or foxnews.com HELP!!
