page can not be displayed

I’m running XP Pro SP2
About 2 weeks ago my home page causes ‘ page cannot be displayed’ error
message. I can still get to all other web pages without any error. I called
the webmaster of my home page and they donot have any problems. Using
‘nslookup’ on the web page I find the error ‘can not find server’ for the
server is the address of my router

I have erased all the temp files and cookies and still the same problems.

I turned off the hosts file still no change

The web site is wildlife.utah.gov

When i start IE on my office computer the bottom of the screen it sometimes
shows opening site 168.180.102.16 other time it shows
http://www.wildlife.utah.gov

As I have said when I run nslookup it shows the site as 10.0.0.100

Looks as if you realize that your DNS isn't very reliable? ; )

So then a solution would be to put the correct address for that site
into your HOSTS file as a temporary override and then ask your ISP
or the owner of the DNS for a resolution.

An alternative would be to ping the canonical name for the site
when you have trouble getting there. Here's how that works:

nslookup shows

<example>
Name: nras00spr.dts.utah.gov
Address: 168.180.102.16
Aliases: www.wildlife.utah.gov
</example>

If you ping -n 1 just the alias (the server name that you want to use)
the only thing that gets cached is the alias record--no record for the
IP address. Hence every lookup could be a real lookup and be at
the mercy of your suspect DNS.

If instead I ping -n 1 the canonical name, its record for the IP address
does get cached and the Time to Live value of it could be very useful
for you with subsequent lookups. Hint: use ipconfig /displaydns to see
these details.

I have tryed to get to the web page on my three computer (home, office and
laptop-all running XP Pro SP2) I have try two different ISPs (sisna.com &
McLeodUSA) the same thing happen on both of them.

More significantly though what were the DNS server addresses each time?
E.g. are you using fixed DNS server addresses or are they acquired
dynamically?

A friend can get on the web page from his home he has xp home and uses Qwest
as his ISP

Try using his DNS server addresses then? ; )

Good luck
