I have created a table in MS word, and I cannot get it to stop
automatically inserted a page break. For some reason, a page break is
automatically inserted after the first row even though that row only
takes up 1/3 of the page. What should be a 3 page table is now a 5
page table with 2 of the pages being practically empty. Anyone know
how to fix this?

You should check if the "Allow table to break across page" is checked,
if it is not then the 2nd row may be jumping to the next page because
there isn't enough room to fit it all.

To check:
1) click into your table (so that your blinking black line is in the
table)
2) Table -> "Table Properties" (Found on the standard tool bar)
3) Click the Row tab
4) Click the little check box "Allow row to break across page"
5) Click OK

This should fix your problem.

I assume your problem comes from the fact that the entire row is moving to a
new page, which it doesn't by default in Word. To fix that problem, select a
cell in the problem row (or the row itself) and right click within the
cell/row. Click the "table properties" option and go to the "row" tab. It
should already be editing the row you want to edit. Make sure that the
"allow row to break across pages" is *checked*. This will allow the row to
be split over page breaks.
