Page break prints in middle of page

Hi,

I'm not really a new user, but after using Word for about 10 years, I am
utterly baffled by v.2002 that came with my new computer.

I just printed a document in which I had inserted a page break. Instead of
printing on a new sheet of paper, Word inserted the dotted Page Break line
in the middle of the previous page and printed the text for the new page
below it -- just the way it appears on the screen. In every other edition of
Word that I have used, a Page Break (Ctrl-Enter) meant that the text below
the break printed on a new sheet of paper. I can't find anything in the Help
files that refers to the bizarre way v. 2002 handles this command.

This is a bug in Word 2002 that appears only if you print a selection. See

Thanks Jay and Suzanne.

With your help, I think I'm homing in on the reason for this annoyance and
some more serious problems I have been having. I didn't realize these
problems might be related.

When I tried your suggested solutions, I found the changes I made changed
back immediately. I tried unchecking the PDFMaker.dot template in Word's
Options/Templates and Add-ins dialog. It re-checks itself. I then found the
PDFMaker.dot template file in the Program Files\Office\Office10\templates
folder and changed the name. The name changed back by itself.

The problem I believe, may have to do with Administrator rights that were
set up when I upgraded to XP Professional from XP Home version that came
with my computer. When I try to change certain things, such as renewing the
Adobe certificate for the macros, or setting up certain defaults, they
changes don't "take."

Now I have to look into this larger issue.

Thanks for you help and guidance.

According to the article, there's no fix for this bug, just clunky
workarounds.

It's funny how there's this pressure on users to keep upgrading Word to
the latest version, but when one sees the endless list of serious flaws
in Word 2002, why would anyone want to own it?
