Page Banner Still Problematic

Steve

Please see www.corvetteclubmi.com

See the gauges at the top in the banner and how the dials are spinning?

When I publish any change, they stop spinning. I publish changed pages only.

If I then ftp the files in the _derived folder from my local computer to the
web host, they spin again.

Any idea why publishing seems to kill the animated gif?

Any ideas on how to make it work when I publish without having to ftp the
files from _derived everytime?

Thanks.

Hi Steve,

On my side, I can see the gauges are spinning. As I can see, it is an
animated gif file.

Technically, publishing changed pages to the website won't cause gif to
stop UNLESS the animated gif file itself has been changed to a "static"
one. To narrow down the issue a bit, please check the following points:

1. In IE-->Tools-->Internet Options-->Advanced, make sure the "Play
animations in web pages" option is checked. If you are using a third-party
browser, please test it in IE.

2. Go to http://www.corvetteclubmi.com/, save the GIF file
index.html_cmp_automotive4110_bnr.gif to the local computer when the guages
are spinning. Open it locally to see whether it works fine.

3. Do the same thing when the guages are not spinning. Open the gif file to
see whether it works locally.

4. If possible, provide a test account so that I can do a repro.

Hope it helps.

Sincerely,

Arnold Gao

When you go back to your browser and see that the dials are not spinning,
hit your refresh button and see if that starts them back up.

Yes, they are spinning because I ftp'd the files in the _derived folder to
the web. If I do not do this, then the gauges do not spin after I publish
with Frontpage.

Something is happening on the web side _derived folder when I publish.

This only started to happen after I switched my web hosting company.

Is it possible this switch is the cause?

Thanks.

Hi Steve,

We can not say the conclusion before further narrowing down the issue.

Can you, if possible, show me the issue live? I would like to take a loot
at the problem happening.

Also, what if we save the gif file to the folder other than _derived? Does
the same issue occur?

By the way, have you tried the t-shooting steps I mentioed in the first
reply? If so, can you let me know the result?

Thanks Steve.

Sincerely,

Arnold Gao
