firstley what are "packets"
secondley why do the keep going up from 1000 to over
40000 after a few hours? and how do i prevent this from
happening (if this is a bad thing)

im using "advanced browser"

A "packet" is a communication unit, constructed in such a way that layers
for each protocol used for a particular connection are wrapped around, like
the layers of skin on an onion. In your case, the connection is TCP/IP. Your
computer is receiving and trasmitting packets over your connection - there's
nothing wrong with that.
