Packet Writing to DVD+RW

I want to use a DVD+RW (NEC ND1300) as a files 'drag &
drop' device. I believe this means 'packet writing'
technology which I understand XP does not support. Does
anyone know how I can do this (reliably)?

The built-in burner does not support packet writing to a CD-R.
Investigate programs that do, and are XP compatible. Search
http://google.com for "packet writing".

You can use INCD which is a packet writing software
piece. It works fine with XP.

The main CD/DVD writing packages are:

Easy CD Creator from Roxio

Nero from Ahead Software

Easy CD Creator includes Drag-to-Disc (formerly DirectCD). It's installed
with ECDC by default.

If you have Nero installed, you can (separately) install InCD.
Unfortunately, Version 4.0.56 of InCD (matched to Nero 6.x) seems to be not
quite ready for prime time. I prefer Nero for CD burning, though.

My current choice is to have both Nero and ECDC (v. 6, which shipped with my
Plextor DVD-R/W drive) installed, but no InCD. Nero and ECDC can co-exist,
but I believe that only one packet writing software package can be active at
a time.

I'm sure that there are many other choices available, but these are the ones
that I've tried. (I imagine that Roxio and Ahead own most of the market
between them, at least in the US.)

HTH.
