PackardBell desktop PC iMedia J2016 - LED flashes blue and orange

Roland Schweiger

Here is an old midi tower desktop machine from PackardBell named
iMedia j2016 and dating from about 2006.
Running Windows7 (32 bit).

The system mostly works fine. However, sometimes, whin on StandBy (hybrid
standby mode), the following occurs:

The LED on the front panel will alternately flash blue and orange for about
1 second each color. This flashing is then permanent and the computer will
not wake up no matter what i do. Only solution: "pull the plug", then the
commputer comes back on and because of the hybrid standby mode, windows7 is
able to restore everything. The problem occurs about 1 per week.

Befor going into details, does any body know what a flashing front-panel LED
blue-orange-blue-orange in meneral meins, on PackardBell desktop PCs?

greetings from Dresden in Germany, and all the best for x-mas for everyone.

I hesitate to ask, but have you looked at the manual? If you do not have
the printed manual you should be able to easily download one from the
maker's website. I would have looked it up myself but the model J2016 does
not seem to be valid. You can find the information you need on the bar code
tag on the chassis -- the PB website can use the serial number or the SNID
if that is all you can find to search with.

There is a German web site, but I don't understand German.
Have you tried there?

Thanks! It seems that the model j2016 is meanwhile legacy / EOL; it does
not show up on the list in the subfolders for "iMedia".
And as it is, i unfortunately don't have a printed or PDF manual; i also
thought that this particular blue-orange-flash will be equal or similar with
other BIOS on packardbell machines, but was not able to find much useful
things.

Never mind, thang's anyway.

You may ask and i will answer. :) As so often unfortunately, i have neither
a printed, nor a pdf manual, and it seems that the machine by now is
legacy/EOL.
Thought that blue-orange-flashing signal will have the same or similar
meaning on other BIOS of pb machines, but until now i find nothing really
trustable.
Suppose some RAM trouble, but could of course also be power supply or some
junk things in the CMOS?
The system is old and not worth much, but IMHO well configured with Win7 for
an office/everydayduty job, so i want to keep it up for a while, and apart
from the flashing thing, there are until now no inconsistencies ...
