Package for CD Digital Certificate Problem

I receive the digital certificate error using Package for CD.

Article ID : 842311 in Knowledgebase.

But, I have SP1 installed and it is still a problem, but I think a different
one.

The article indicates the problem is when copying to a folder. I have the
problem with folder AND CD copying.

I have uninstalled viewer, reinstalled Office 2003 (without unstalling
first), reinstalled viewer, and the same thing happened.

I tried reinstalling SP1 but you can do that because there's a message that
it is already installed.

I have read through some threads that seem to be the same problem, and
haven't seen a fix. I have seen a few time wasting suggestions (uninstall
everything, reinstall everything, use Package for CD before applying SP1,
etc.).

Anyone know about a fix that has worked?

Hi,

Welcome to the club. Apparently this isn't a very common problem or we'd be
hearing more screaming about it, but I've seen it on two computers here now.

Installing SP1 *won't* help if it's the same thing I'm seeing. In fact,
installing SP1 is the *cause* of the problem. On both systems here, Package
for CD to Folder worked until SP1 was installed; nothing else changed in
between.

If you'd like to send me an email, I'd be happy to forward your contact info to
someone who's looking into this at MS. steve at-sign pptools dot com

Until a fix is found, you might need to keep a copy of 2003 sans SP1 on a
different computer if possible; another (probably more robust/flexible)
solution would be Sonia Coleman's AutoRUN CD Creator software

If I am correct about what I have read in the Knowledgebase and here, I
should only get the error copying to a folder. But, I get the error copying
to CD too.

I have other PCs using SP1 with this function working, it just doesn't work

The knowledgebase only contains that which is known. It can only remain mum abuot
problems as yet undiscovered and this appears to be one of those, particularly since
my experience on two computers is in direct contradiction to what the KBase says and
I'm inclined to believe my own eyes over what's in the KBase.

I'm getting the error when copying to a folder. Package for CD doesn't work under
Windows 2000, only XP, so I haven't tried that. It might error out in the same way.
It sounds from your description as though it does.
I have other PCs using SP1 with this function working, it just doesn't work
on my notebook.

If it were a universal problem, it'd have been caught early in testing and never
released until fixed. There's apparently something odd about some systems that
triggers it. MS may need more detailed system info in order to track this down.

That's why I mentioned sending me your email; I can pass it along to the people who
are looking into this problem.

Any chance you have an anti virus app running? You might try suspending it
while trying to package the presentation.

Good question. In my case, no - nothing like that on one of the two boxes in
question.

Hi Steve,

Based on the information you provided earlier, it appears that your version
of MSO.DLL did not get updated properly. The version should be 11,931 KB
and has modified date of 6/17/2004.
