P4r800-V Deluxe Sp2 upgrade trouble

I've been using this board about 6 months under XP sp1 as the base of
a media pc with stable results. I've tried to apply XP Sp2 to the
system and after the 2nd reboot the system stays at the XP boot screen
and will not continue to load.

It looks suspiciously like the SP2 / Prescott problem except that I
can boot into safe mode and the system will run normally, which I
gather does not usually happen with the Prescott issue - loading
update.sys is supposed to lock the machine in either mode. In addition
I've read the boot screen animation halts as well and mine does not.
It continues to cycle indefinitely.

I restored a drive image back to Sp1, I updated to the latest beta
bios (1009-004) and ran for a week with the Beta Bios and everything
appears stable. Tried to update SP2 again and get the same behavior.

Can anyone confirm they can run XP Sp2 with this board? If I can rule
out this as the cause I can move on to other factors.

Here is the hardware as currently configured:

P4R800-V Deluxe
P4 Prescott 2.8E
2 x 256mb Crucial DDR400 PC3200 sticks
Onboard IGP video
Onboard SoundMax Audio
2 x Seagate ST3120026A 120gb drives
Samsung TS-h542A DVD burner
Hauppage PVR 250 MCE
Niveus x10 RF Remote
LiteOn Airboard i/r keyboard
Asus 802.11b wireless card

Speaking of Wi-Fi, I've got another strange issue with this system.
The system seems to be interpreting some wireless traffic and keyboard
and/or mouse input. When I have my laptop on and running with a
USRobotics WiFi card, I will get spontaneous activity on the Asus
system - start menu opens or desktop items do. It never occurs unless
my laptop is using the network WiFi and it is not consistent, but it
is frequent.

There are no issues with spyware, trojans or other malware on this
system. I do have UltraVNC running on it for remote maintenance tasks.

Thanks for your input.

I have same MB with P4 Northwood 2.2GHz, Win XP SP2 installed successfully.
I have some rare crashes (BSoD), but it's probably SATA (I have RAID1)
problem, KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR caused by SCSIPORT.SYS
