P4PE TEMPERATURE

Dino

Hi!

I have Asus P4PE Deluxe mainboard.
with Pentium 4 2.4GHz,(533) CPU installed.

I am a little worried about MB and CPU temperatures,
I have Open left side od Case and the board temperature is
33-34 C, and CPU at 41-42C!
When I close the left side of the case the temps are much bigger,
board raiser about 3-4 degrees and CPU idles at 45-47.

I have Thermaltake Volcano 7+ cooler with Artic Silver Ceramique on it.

Is this normal or not???
How are you expirences with this MB and CPU???

thanks

Those are great temps, don't worry abouth it. Although I like my machines
to run about 50C (CPU), I have some "loaded" machines that run at 63 with
the case closed.
The Intel stated max design temp is 70-71 degrees for a 2.4G @533.
It's also to be expected for temps to rise 3-4 degrees when you close your
case.

I'm running a p4pe with a 1.8 northwood running at 2.8ghz and AVC
sunflower HSF. (Artic silver) If you're in the northern hemisphere
right now and experiencing autumn weather, the temps sound slightly
hot to me. That is if they are correct readouts. Are you reading out
from the BIOS, from MBM within windows, asus program?

Right now I'm in a room at 20C and the mobo is at 22C, cpu at 35C. At
full load the cpu might hit 40C. In the searing temps say back in
September when i put this board together (I'm in the south of Spain)
the mobo was at 28C and idled at 40C, full load went to 45C or so.

I've got an 80mm fan blowing in from the front bottom and two 80mm
exhaust fans at top back.

I know that some people have reported considerably cooler
temperatures with their systems. However, my P4PE motherboard
(not the Deluxe model) temperature usually idles around 33 C
and the 2.8GHz CPU (with stock cooler) temperature idles
around 45 C. When it's very busy, the CPU temperature
hovers around 60 C. It's been running this way for
almost a year, since I first put it together.

Ditto. Gets up to 62 or 63 when really intensive work is going on, but usually
idles around 44 or so, and all of this is well within spec.
