p4pe can't see sata hard drives

Windows XP can't see my other hard drives that are connected to the
sata plugs unless I enable the onboard promise raid in bios. Is
there no way for windows to see them without using the raid
controller?

I don't want to use the raid controller because I think its been
damaged after I overclocked my cpu. Can you damage it by
overclocking the fsb? Maybe its just a coincidence

Are they connected to the promise sata plugs or the intel sata ? It
sounds like they are connected to the promise plugs, so you would have
to enable that controler. If by chance they are connected to the intel
sata plugs, change the bios setting enhanced mode to s[ata].

I don't think I have any intel sata plugs. I have two, and they
sandwich the promise sata controller chip which is in between them.

If your system is running fine, I don't think overclocking would have
damaged that controler. My boot time increases noticably when I enable
/ use my promise controler...You are correct, there is no intel sata
on that board, only third party support from promise or via. If you
wish to use those sata hdd's, you have to enable it or buy a newer
board with intel sata or sata-r (raid support).
