P4P800 onboard sound

Hi,

Recently purchased this motherboard (P4P800, not deluxe), it has a builtin
sound card and coaxial spdif output. I wonder if it worths to spend extra $
to buy the asus s/pdif output module
(http://www.asus.com.tw/mb/mb_accessories.htm). All I want to do is to
output mp3 to my MD, which has an optical line-in for recording.

In the past, I use a cheap sound card (Zoltrix 4 channels PCI) with optical
output to do the job. It comes with software which allows me to turn on/off
the optical s/pdif output. And I wonder if the asus s/pdif module is always
on or is software controllable.

Thanks for any advice.

Just buy a SB Live 5.1. They are about $30-$35 now and well worth the money
and blow any on-board audio to "bits".
