P4C800-E Deluxe and Sony Clie 615C

My sony clie 615C causes my computer to reboot during hotsync. After
the reboot MS error checking says it was probably caused by a device
driver, but does not know which one. I've emailed sony and tried their
suggestions - on the first hotsync afterward it rebooted the computer
again. All other usb devices work fine (e.g., scanner, etc.)

Windows XP Professional (updated to most recent upgrades etc
1GB memory
Pentium 4 3.0 GHz 800 FSB (Asus mobo P4C800-E Deluxe).
Works great for everything else but consistently hotsyncing causes
reboots 70% of the time. I was using Sony Clie and Intellisync lite,
bought Intellisync from Puma and no difference.

At work using Windows 2000, it works fine.

It worked fine on my home computer before I updated to the new
motherboard and system. I've changed the usb settings in cmos but that
didn't change anything.

I'm at a complete loss as to what to do?

Try uninstalling all of your USB devices in the device manager with no USB
devices attached. Reboot and allow XP Pro to "discover" the USB devices.
When complete re-attach yourSony Cli device.

Good luck

Maybe update your USB drivers. I know, you said you installation was
updated, but who knows.

My system configuration is much the same as yours -- ASUS P4C800-E
Deluxe, 3GHz P4N, 1GB RAM, Windows XP Pro with all the latest updates.
I'm running the support software that was bundled with my Clie 615C.

I turned off Legacy USB support to get Windows XP Pro installed. The
first time I tried a HotSync, it caused a reboot. After mentally
kicking myself for not remembering the Clie is a USB 1.x device, I
went into BIOS and re-enabled Legacy USB support. HotSync has worked
fine since.
