P4C800-E + ATI 9600xt - it flickers

Hi All,

I've installed the latest ATI drivers, applied all WinXP fixes, but the
display still flickers. It's like I'm only running at 60hz. I've tried
every refresh rate from 75 - 100+ and it still appears to flicker. I've
tried 2 different monitors. Any ideas before I rma the ATI 9600xt.

Odds are good that you *are* running at 60 Hz. The Catalyst drivers require
that you make sure an appropriate monitor .inf file is being used. If you
are using Plug and Play for monitor type, you will have to go to the
Displays tab in the ATI Control Panel (under Advanced Settings in Display
Properties) and make sure that a high enough refresh rate is selected there
(under monitor). After doing so, you can change the refresh rate in the
standard manner. Without doing this, you can change the refresh rate all
day long without it having any effect.
