P4B533 & Maxtor 120 GB , cannot see full capacity

I have a computer with P4B533 & latest bios (I used file 1015.awd downloaded
from ASUS site for upgrading via Alt +F2 command at boostrap) , yesterday I
did install a Maxtor 120 GB hard disk (model LY10L0) , the settings are :
-operating system Windows 2000 SP3
-hard disk set as slave (removed the jumper)
-Bios configuration : type set as AUTO (automatic detect)

the Bios does find the Maxtor but reports a wrong capacity (32 Gb) , the
same for Windows 2000.
I did an attempt to modify BIOS settings by entering User Type HDD, 16383
Cylinders, 16 Heads, 63 Sectors but the result doesn't change.
Also I did test the Maxtor with their utility (MaxBlast) which I ran from a
floppy, the HDD seems to work fine but I wasn't able to find out what the
real capacity is, is there a different way ?
Suggestions are welcome.
Thanks.

Disk drives frequently have a jumper setting that "limits" or "clips"
capacity to 32GB. Check the jumpers you've used and see if that is the
source of the problem. Go to the manufacturer's website and check the
jumper settings there, in case the settings on the disk drive label
are not complete.

There shouldn't be a need for any "Maxblasting" or a BIOS setting
other than Auto.

It seems that the BIOS is capping the drive at 32 Megs. Check to see that
you have not accidentally place a jumper to limit the size.

thanks, there are no jumpers installed, perhaps there is a defect in the
disk, tomorrow I'll try t install a different drive.

Maybe you should install the one jumper that designates the
drive as master.
