\Owner - - Access Denied!!

Ok, here is my delima...

I had a virus on my pc, "iexIorer.exe", i thought id
outsmart it, so i created a program to terminate it as
soon as it stopped running, so with that running in the
background, i open up task manager, close all instances,
then bam, the program is toast. So here i am thinking i
got rid of it, i reboot to get my resources back, and
loal and behold, my pc tells me \system32\hal.dll is
missing!

Thankfully (i thought), i have a linux partition running,
so i open that up, it lets me open up my "documents and
settings\owner" folder, i can see all of my files, but i
cant put them on the other partition!!

So then what i did, i created a windows 2000 partition,
thinking that would solve the problem, but now when i try
to open my owner folder, it tells me "Access Denied". I
know windows does this for security reasons, but is there
ANY way i can get into my folder!!! I've got thousands of
dollars in source code that im screwed if i lose! Im not
asking for a hack (although that would be nice), i just
need someway to get access to this folder (i have my
username and password, it just doesnt give me a chance to
input them!)

I would be ever so grateful if anybody can help me!
Thanks,
SilverLogic

Note that if you take ownership from the new W2k install
and then later reestablish bootability of the original XP
install, such as by an upgrade install to get the hall.dll issue
fixed, then the storage area will have the wrong NTFS
premissions. You will then need to restore them to what
they had been for XP.
