OVERVIEW OF NUMBERING. DIFFERENCES IN LIST, OUTLINE, STYLE

I would like an overview of NUMBERING. I want to understand the concept for
each of the options- List styles, Outline Numbered, Numbered, to see how they
work differently with Styles. I want to know why to select one or the other.
I am working on a set of construction specifications
