Overtype mode-how does it happen?

Sometimes I will go from the insert to the overtype mode and not know exactly how I switched typing modes.
I'm familiar with two way to enter the overtype mode: 1) hit the insert key 2) in status bar-double click on the OVR button.
However, sometimes I switch to the overtype and I know that I did not do either of these methods.
does anyone have a list of other ways to enter the overtype mode? This would be helpful for my Word classes so they know what to stay away from.
Any assistance would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

It's very easy to hit the Insert key when reaching for either Backspace or
Delete.
