Oversized pst folders

My.pst file is now over 1gig in size. Outlook will not allow me to move items
out of it or archive them to reduce the size. How do I resolve this issue and
split the files into smaller more manageable folders?
 
1GB is not oversized. What is the exact error you get when you try? Ran
scanpst.exe against your pst-file already to check it for errors?
