The 2000 .pst file has grown to 2Gb and shut down the program. If I buy
Outlook 2003 will I be able to simply open up the .pst and get back to work?

Thanks

no. you'll need to use the Unicode format pst to have an oversized one.
you'll need the pst crop tool or snip some off using any hex editor.
