Overriding the Mastertemplate

I'm using MS PowerPoint 2000. I am giving a presentation based on a Master
template that I created. It uses a gradient fill and along the left side is
a vertical bar in which is written the name of the presentation. On
occasion, I'd like to *not* show that vertical bar. How can I create a
completely blank screan that lacks the elements of the master, while keeping
the master slide intact?
Thank you.

Robert,

Try this....

on the slide you want to look different to the master slide

format menu > background > tick the "omit background graphics from master"

If there is the 'odd bit' of graphic that you 'do' want to include on your
slide from the slide master

then 'copy and paste' just those graphics from the slide master to your new
slide.

So Simple! I had considered that, and thought it would do something else. I
should have tried, which is how I learn most things, but I didn't think the
graphic it was referring to was that which I placed on the master. Thanks
very much.
