Overlap image and table cells

How do I position a GIF image to show from one table cell into the next? I
have a 2000 edition of FP here (but I can use 2003 on a different computer).
Thanks in advance!
 
Create a one cell table and use the gif as the background image.

Then add another multi cell table inside of the original and on top of the gif.
