Overlaid images with transparency and opacity don't print.

I have the following problem. I have two images that are positioned at the
same screen position, but one is overlaid on top of the other one. The one in
the background has not style or filters applied. The one in the foreground is
a transparent gif. It also has opacity set by giving it a style of:
style="filter:alpha(opacity='60');" It displays correctly on the screen and
in print preview. When I print it is wrong. The foreground image totally
obscures the background one. The transparent part of the foreground image is
printed as white even though in the gif the transparent color is completely
different.

Is there a combination of filters or CSS style that will make this print
correctly?
Do the filters that work on screen not get used for printing?

I will be glad to provide any needed clarifications.

Thanks for the reply. The foreground image is a transparent gif.

I had found that forums discussion as well. I also completely understand
that some of the DirectX filters (blur, transitions, etc.) make no sense in
the land of printing. Opacity and Transparency, however do make sense and
should work. I was hoping that someone from MS would weigh with an answer of
how to make it work or to clarify that it is a bug. (btw, this 'bug' still
seems to exist in IE 7.0 RC1).

It also seems that if I only have the foreground image, then i can have
opacity work for the printer. It also seems that if I have both images but
don't set opacity on the transparent foreground one, then that prints as
expected. However, when both are applied, it doesn't work.

Thanks,
