overheating? radeon 7500

illegal operation
then I click on details
it is all zeros
radeon 7500 cat 3.9 newest driver
win98se
error with all zeroes first occurred when heat was on and in warm
room.
seems to recover after short wait.
running aseedsee ver 2.3 slide show at zero delay for 10 minutes.
has previously run without errors on this pc.
images were loading incompletely and corrupt in horizontal patches.
sincerely seemed to run fine for quite a while (3 weeks) after
uninstalling nvidea driver.

also, occasionally get kicked out of AgeOfEmpiresConquerors where game
screen just vanishes and I go back to windows desktop without an error
message.

intermittant illegal operations prior to uninstalling nvidea drivers
from previous card. memory range 177- always.
swapped ram didn't fix
uninstalling nvidea drivers fixed that specific error.

I do have old heat sinks from smaller older cpus, could one be
attached to a specific place on this card?
If so, where, and how to be fastened?
Vid card is marginally unfunctional, so if I destroy it it is no huge
loss.

Thanks!!

I had similar problems with my 7500 and used the fan from an old cpu
cooler to fix that problem. You can superglue the fan to the heat sink
on the GPU and it should work fine. You could also try to use the
screws to attach it to the heatsink if you are that ambitious.

Try using an older driver for stability.

It is stable , but it does generate a message when I force it to, I
know how to avoid it, at least till I get some superglue to glue a
larger heat sink and fan on it or replace it.

I restart between apps at least for now, ie AOEConquerors reboot.
And I keep heat turned down when gaming on it and it doesn't complain.
Keeps it clean for now.

Might consider your suggestion tho, thkx.
