Outloook not retrieving mail

I am having a problem with Outlook ,maybe some one has seen this problem.
Outlook is setup with an Exchange Server account. New mail will not be seen
in outlook until some action is taken like reading a piece of mail than
outlook will show any new messages that have come in from the last time a
message was read. If no messages were read in say an hour I would not have
known a new mesage has been recieved. I can force a send / recieve but it
won't display the new mail automatically.
Any clues?

This is usually caused by the blocking of UDP packets by the firewall you're
using. Either disable the firewall or add Outlook to its exceptions list.
