Outlooks Continues to RetreiveMail When Closed

Outlook continues to retrieve mail when closed. This will not allow my
wireless PDA to get mail because it is off the server.

I know I could leave it on the server but I don't want all e-mail on my PDA
only the ones when I am out of the office.

Any thoughts?

Outlook will not retrieve mail if it is not running. Are you sure that
you're closing it and not minimizing it? When you close it, and open the
task manager, do you still see the OUTLOOK.EXE process running? If so, then
you have an issue with Outlook actually closing.

Try just doing File -> Exit and see if the process is still running after
that. I know on one PC I was working with something with ActiveSync was
keeping Outlook running. I had to exit ActiveSync, then close Outlook. A
reinstall (with an updated version) of ActiveSync took care of that problem
for me.
