Outlook continues receiving email when Outlook is closed

When I close Outlook 2003, it continues receiving e-mail. (I notice that
Outlook continues to be listed as a process in the Windows Task Manager.)

I don't want it to do that because I want incoming mail left on the server
when Outlook is closed, so that I can retrieve it from elsewhere.

Can anyone help? Thanks!

Then, in fact, Outlook isn't closing. You're the only one who can figure out
why. Look for add-ins or synchronization software that would keep Outlook
running.

Find the add-in that's keeping it open and stop it. Outlook will then
close. See
