addressing,--> when sending mail, check names using these address lists in
the following order, but when i create a new mail and type a first name it
ill check in contact1, but not in contact2, or contact3, and when i change
the search order means if i put contact2 first in search order and then
contact1, and contact3. then it ill check only in contact2, but not in
contact1, and contact3. please help me to resolve it. it has to search in all

What do you mean by "when you type in a first name"? Are you referring to
the list that pops up and contains addresses *before* you click Check Names
or press Ctrl-K? If so, that has nothing whatsoever to do with any of your
contact folders.

i mean to say when i typed a word in To Field and click on check name it will
not show the email address but the email address with this word is in another
contact list for example contacts2 but the problem is if i move the email
address in contact1 list it will show. as i explain i have 3 contact list
with the names contact1, contact2, and contact3 and it placed in search order
as contact1, contact2, contact3, so it has to search first in contact1 if it
doesn't found in contact1 then it has to search in contact2 and contact3,.
what i mean to say is outlook2007 is searching only in the first contact list
when i clicked on check name

I don't think you answered my question. Is the name for which you're
checking in ONLY Contact2 or is it in BOTH Contact1 and Contact2?

I'm afraid I can't reproduce this. Outlook will continue searching each
contact folder you have enabled as an address book, provided the contact
hasn't been found in any previous ones.

Hi Brian

I have the same behaviour as kaleem has desribed. With Outlook 2003 the
search order of the address books worked fine. With Outlook 2007 only the
first adress book is searched when checking names.
Additional information: One of the address books in my list is a global one
stored on an exchange server.

Any hint?

Kind regards
Mike
