Outlook2003 vs Outlook2002 - Any better at downloading emails

Hi

Is the latest Outlook (i.e. Outlook2003 [?])
any better than Outlook2002 at:
a) Handling large (1000+) numbers of emails to download
b) Searching across old emails?

I have Outlook2002 and it is IMHO *shockingly* poor at both
of the above.

P.S. I have 3 PCs and will need use all three. (I usually just copy the
mailbox.pst file across all three.) They run Windows2000 and WinXP.

1) what difficulties are you facing with this? Performance has increased in
Outlook 2003

2) Use the free add-in called Lookout from Microsoft for this. The MSN
Deskbar also allows you to do fast searches but it's still in BETA

I often need to download up to 2000 to 3000 emails at once.
(Mostly spam, and worse after I've been on holiday!)

The problem is that once Outlook2002 has downloaded the
first few emails it then seems to download emails
INCREDIBLY slowly!! About one every 5 seconds if you're lucky.
And that's with all rules turned off. And my SpamBayes turned off too!

Also if you're on the road and are forced into using dialup
it can be even worse because if ever you disconnect (by mistake)
it seems that it will only delete downloaded emails off the server once
it has downloaded *ALL* the emails that it needs to. With 2000 emails
on the server you may just never get there!!

And worse if you do get disconnected on dialup, then you risk getting
duplicate
copies of your emails.

At present I use the Google desktop thing which is blisteringly
fast though not entirely reliable...

Things have improved greatly on this for Exchange and POP3 connections. I
don't have much experience with IMAP and large amount of messages but I
expect some work has been done on that. Download and install the trail
version of Outlook 2003 and see if things work better for you as well.
