i've received a new computer with xp home on it. i have
always used outlook express for my email. i can't access
anything on express. when i click on the rec/send outlook
just locks up and kicks me off my dial up internet
connection. i control/alt/delete and it says that outlook
express is not responding and i have to end task. how can
i get rid of this. how can this outlook be taken off and
another version put on, or written over this version.
Also, please tell me a place to go to discuss windows xp
home. thanks, Steve

Hi Steve,

First, click tools/options/connection tab and ensure that the option to hang
up after sending and receiving is not checked.

Reinstalling Outlook Express can often cure these ills, set folder
option/view tab to see hidden and operating system files. Then locate the
msoe50.inf file under C:\Windows\Inf, right-click it and choose install.

Please preface your message correctly. Outlook is an entirely
different program from what you are asking about, Outlook Express.

Regardless, you should ask this question in a forum that deals with
that program. This is an XP OS group.

You need to give us more information. First, we don't know if you are
using Outlook or Outlook Express (see NobodyMan's post above) - they
are two separate programs. We don't know if your mail program was ever
set up correctly and what ISP you are using. We don't know if this ever
worked or if it never worked. We don't know if you have scanned with a
current antivirus using updated definitions. Please post back with some
answers to these questions to get more help. And this newsgroup is a
place for you to ask questions about Windows XP Home or Pro.
