outlook won't save new contacts

I had a system crash and restore and re-loaded MS Office XP. Since then,
Outlook will not allow me to save new contacts. Error message reads, "The
messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If problem persists,
restart Outlook". I've restarted and reloaded but still have same problem.
Any ideas?

Create a new Outlook profile from scratch.

Thanks for the response, Russ. I read many of your posts to other questions
in thiw forum and found out how to set up the new profile. I created the new
profile but still have the same problem. neither the default profile or the
one I just set will will allow me to save a new contact. I do have my old
data but get the same error message in both profiles when trying to save a
new contact.

(This is my first time using this type of online help and I greatly
appreciate your taking the time to respond to my question).

How did you "restore" both your data and your applications after this crash?
Try some of the techniques described here:
