Outlook very slow

Outlook 2002 on my home computer is very slow in
switching from one email to another. When deleting an
email, it takes several seconds for the computer to do
so. Also get a program not responding warning Window
sometimes when I close out of Outlook. What makes these
things happen? What do I do to improve the situation?

Uncheck IM integration under tools->options->other.
