Outlook Outlook Update Problems

I am running Outlook 2000 with updates (SP-3) recently downloaded from the MS site. Since then Outlook has dumped several appointments with annual recurrances into the deleted items folder. Also, the reminder option now only allows me to set a reminder upto 2 days in advance some existing reminders have been re set to 8384 minutes! What's going on?

get mozilla thunderbird i find it to be much easier and better to use than outlook and i believe that it has better security.
