Outlook Today should allow selection of tasks to display by catego

On my Outlook Today page (Outlook 2003), I can sort my tasks but cannot
organize or filter them by category, only by date due. I would like to be
able to control what categories display and see my tasks by category. For
instance, at work I don't need to see that my lawn needs mowing etc. and vice
versa at home.

So, create your own Outlook Today page that does what you want. Search MS's
Knowledgebase for "Customize Outlook Today"

Thanks for that but can't find anything there that relates to this. Do you
mean editing the outlookwvw.dll file?

You can create your own HTML home page and have Outlook Today use it as is.
You can also create your own outlwvw.dll file. The KB articles describe
how.

WHAT I AM PROPOSING IS THAT FUTURE OUTLOOK VERSIONS SHOULD HAVE TASK
CATEGORIES SIMILAR TO THOSE IN CONTACTS. When I enter a contact,
I can assign one or more of my predesignated categories. Then I can view a
list of all contacts that have that category.
I would like task lists to have the same category option, so I can view a
list of tasks sorted by category, just like one can do in Outlook 2003
contacts.

Thanks, Brian, but I am an intermediate level user, and it might be hard for
me to learn how to "customize" my Outlook page. But if this USEFUL OPTION
were put into a future version, IT WOULD BE AVAILABLE TO EVERYONE.
