Outlook synchronizing folders

Outlook recently started displaying a synchronizing folders message in the
task and emails now download at a snails pace - why is this happening and how
can i stop it

Outlook 2003

The only thing I have done recently is download MSN IM software, signed up
for a hotmail email address to use with IM, and connected to my office
computer via remote hookup- Office network uses exchange server for email and
what I think may have happened is a file has been created on my local PC that
now makes Outlook think that my laptop is using exchange server for my
private email when in fact I am using a pop3 server via Earthlink. Any ideas?

Seems like several people have had this problem but I have yet to come
accross a resolution...

What file do you think has been created on your PC that would do something
like that? You can try creating a new mail profile...

I have recreated profile, recreated pst, I ran the scan program on the pst
but nothing fixes the problem

You didn't say what file you think may have been created on your PC to cause
this...
