My company has a lot of incoming mail. We store these within different
profect folders by dragging and dropping the messages.

My problem is that Outlook 2000 doesnt handle this very well. For
example, when someone has replied to a message, and we drag and drop
that, it comes up with rubbish file names like :RE: questions (2)

Is there a better way to store emails into different project files like
this?

I assume these project folders are just regular Windows Explorer folders, in
which case this is normal behavior. The files get their names from the
subject lines of the message, many of which are duplicated. You'd get better
results making folders in PST files, or if sharing is the goal, and assuming
you're using Exchange, Public Folders.
